Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Cross Country Update from Coach Lynch

Hello Cross Country families and friends!

Our Mighty Florence Falcons truly did a remarkable job of running this past Friday at the Sectionals meet in Madison, AL.  This season, we have watched them give literal blood, sweat, and tears, as well as grit, determination, and sheer dauntlessness, as we made the transition to a 7A school. We are all so proud of their hard work and commitment to this program.

Our Top 10 girls were extraordinary at the Sectionals meet!  Congratulations to Mary Claire Ridgeway on her fast win, with a winning time of 19:04!  In 2nd place for our team, and 13th overall, Ellie Von Herrmann came in with a time of 21:07! Also in the top 20 was Sydney Byrd and Sydney Callahan. In addition, we also had Nora Redding, Sydney Coussons, Kyndall Crosslin, Jennifer Vaden, Abby Dickerson, and Liz Infanger, representing Florence.  Congratulations to them all!  Our girls brought home the 2nd place trophy!!!!

Our Top 10 boys took the stage next, and were absolutely inspiring! Bennett Brake led the Falcons, and came in 8th overall, with a time of 16:32. Trey Hurt was not far behind, coming in 11th overall, with a time of 16:45. David Rubolin was also in the top 20, with a time of 17:37. Completing out the rest of our remarkable boys team was Reed Trapp, John Brake, Joshua Fields, Taiyo Hino, Devin Gregory, Jacob Randall, and Ian Infanger. Our boys brought home the 3rd place trophy!!!! Congratulations to this extraordinary group of young men! There is no doubt that they are going to be fast and amazing at State next weekend!

Also thank you to everyone that came to cheer on our runners on Friday….those that weren’t running, administration, parents, and friends. There’s nothing like seeing people cheering for you, when you’re out on the course!

As our season is now coming to an end, we would like to say to each and every one of you…..JOB WELL DONE!

Our Mighty Falcons will be traveling to the Indian Mounds in Moulton, Alabama next Saturday, Nov 10th for the AHSAA 7A STATE MEET. Come one, come all, and cheer on these great and mighty runners!!
