Cross country update from Coach Lynch
We had so much fun at yesterday’s cross country meet at the Wilson Invitational. We all came home a little cold and wet, but also with full hearts and good spirits:)
First off, congratulations to all our runners for amazing races, with many setting a new PR! They all looked amazing out there!! Everyone on the team who did not run came out after school and supported their fellow teammates. They all were running from one spectator spot to another, cheering and screaming, calling out times from the sidelines! I love it!~that’s TEAMWORK!!
Our JV boys kicked off the event, with the race being led and won by 9th grader Trey Hurt, who came in 1st with a time of 10:36. Fellow teammate and 9th grader Reed Trapp brought in 2nd place with a time of 11:24. Our JV boys team looked great out there and came in 4th overall!
JV girls were led by Georgia Erbe, who came in 9th with a time of 15:26. All our JV girls were in the top 20, and together worked hard to bring home a 2nd place trophy!
Our varsity boy’s team looked strong out there, some even working together to build a strong pace. Jacob Randall led our boys, coming in 19th with a time of 20:01. Great job to our boys!
Our Varsity girl’s team was composed of part of our JV girls, with our 7th and 8th grade girls running up for their first ever 5k distance cross country race. They finished up the evening and they finished strong. 7th grader Ellie Von Herrmann finished in 6th place with a time of 22:34, followed closely by Nora Redding in 7th place with a time of 22:41. Our girls worked hard together, and also brought home a 2nd place trophy!
They all worked hard together to support each other as a team!
Our top 10 Varsity girls and boys will be traveling to Birmingham today to run the Oak Mountain Invitational on Saturday morning. Prayers and happy thoughts appreciated!
