Multiple Teams · Florence Defeats Bob Jones 36-29

MADISON, AL- After falling behind 21-0 in a first quarter plagued by an interception returned for a touchdown and ill-timed penalties, the Falcons recovered to defeat Bob Jones 36-29.

A large contingent of Falcons supporters in addition to the home Madison City Stadium crowd on hand to participate in Bob Jones’ homecoming festivities witnessed the Falcons outscore Bob Jones 36-8 over the final three quarters.  Kameron Davis’ two yard touchdown run at the 10:56 mark in the second quarter sparked the Florence offense and energized the Florence defense that struggled getting off the field early in the game.  The Falcons rode this wave of momentum into the second half as it only took two offensive plays and 32 seconds for another Kameron Davis touchdown run to cut the Bob Jones lead to seven.  The Florence defense forced a quick three-and-out to set up the red hot offense for a quick scoring drive capped off by a fifteen yard run by Roland Adams to tie the game at 21.  Another three-and-out forced by the Florence defense allowed the offense to continue its scoring streak and put the Falcons ahead 28-21 with a seven yard Adams touchdown run with 5:53 left to play in the third quarter.

Following a fourth down stop by its defense, Florence went on an impressive 11 play, 58 yard drive resulting in a six yard touchdown run by quarterback Blake Hawkins and a successful two point conversion. The drive increased the Florence lead to 36-21 early in the fourth quarter.  Bob Jones answered the Florence score by taking advantage of two Florence penalties in order to get back in the game with a touchdown and a two point conversion, cutting the Florence lead to 36-29 with 9:31 to play.  Having a seven point lead and an opportunity to build upon its lead, the Florence offense drove deep into Bob Jones territory but was unable to come away with points.  With the game on the line in the final minute the Florence defense came up with a stop on fourth down to preserve the hard fought 36-29 victory over a highly ranked 7A opponent.
